Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of falling out of the passenger elevator: On or about 7-5-2000 the one person electric elevator (also known as a manlift) located near the grain dump, the passenger car door electric interlock was located inside of the passenger car where it could easily be tampered with and actually by-passed to such a degree that the elevator could be operated with the elevator car door in the fully opened positon which would expose the passenger(employee) to a severe fall hazard. One method of abatement to correct this hazardous condition is to relocate the elelctric car door interlock so that it is not readily accessible from the inside of the car as described in the American National Standard Safety Code ANSI A17.1-1993 Section 111.5. ***THIS ITEM REQUIRES A WRITTEN CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT***
