Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards: (a) Location - C-1 Line: On or about 11-5-98, employees were working from a platform which was elevated by the forks of a powered industrial lift truck and the platform was not secured to the forks and midrails were not provided on the platform. Among other means, feasible means of abatement would be to provide a platform which is securely affixed to the forks of the truck and provided with a full guardrail system which includes both a top and midrail.
