Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: The hazard of fire/explosion and lacerations from being struck by flying glass: (a) Acetylenics Plant, Unit Control Room: The employer did not protect his employees from the recognized hazard of lacerations in that all unnecessary windows were not closed in on the north and west walls of the unit control room. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to close in the eight (8) glass windows located on the north wall, and the twelve (12) glass windows and glass panel entrance door located on the west side of the unit control room with acceptable materials to provide at least the fire and explosion resistance of the existing building.
