Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) Fire and explosion, elevator, truck dump - the hazard of dust explosion created by tramp metal entering the grain flow system through the unloading grates. One feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is the installation of screen or grating with approximately two and one-half (2-1/2) inch maximum openings over the north and south truck dumps, other methods would be to install permanent magnets, approved electro magnets or specific gravity type separators at the truck dumps.
