Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: UNAPEQUIP
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) On April 22, 1992 employees were exposed to hazard of being run over by Skidder which did not have an operational backup alarm. Approximately 8.9 miles SSE of Woodville on Tommy Whitaker Rd., Caterillar Skidder Model No. 518, Serial No. 50S1954 being operated in reverse gear with vision to rear obstructed by lift all bucket attachment. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is install and maintain the backup alarm per manufacturers specifications.
