Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by falling lumber: JOBSITE: STACKS OF 1/2 INCH PLYWOOD WERE PLACED ON TWO SMALL WOOD ROOF STRUCTURES CANTILEVERED OFF THE REAR OF THE BUILDING. THE PLYWOOD WAS IN DANGER OF FALLING. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to reduce the amount (weight) of plywood on each structure on each structure, stack it flat and away from the edges and provide shoring underneath the structures to adequately support the extra weight of the plywood.
