29 CFR 1910.307(c):Electrical installations. Equipment, wiring methods, and installations of equipment in hazardous (classified) locations shall be intrinsically safe, approved for the hazardous (classified) location, or safe for the hazardous (classified) location. (a) On or about March 12, 2025, and at times prior, the employer did not ensure employees tasked with defueling compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks performed the task in a facility with electrical installations approved for a hazardous atmosphere. This exposed the employees to explosion/flash fire hazards when CNG is released in the vicinity of electrical equipment not approved for hazardous atmospheres.
