29 CFR 1910.215(b)(9): The distance between the abrasive wheel periphery(s) and the adjustable tongue or the end of the safety guard peripheral member at the top exceeded one fourth inch: a) M/V Golden Alaska - Maintenance Shop: On or about March 3, 2025 employees performing maintenance activities utilizing the Baldor Bench Grinder (Serial Number X1210017515) were exposed to struck-by hazards in that the distance between the abrasive wheel and tongue guard exceeded 1/4 inch. OSHA Instruction: Shipyard Employment "Tool Bag" Directive - CPL 02-00-162 allows for the applicability of 29 CFR 1910.215(b)(9) in the ship building and ship repair industry.
