29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a)National Food NW LLC, at 25351 National Avenue, Plankinton, SD 57368: On or about and at times prior to February 21, 2025, the employer did not ensure the egg way conveyor tensioner was properly guarded. This condition exposed employees to caught-in and amputation hazards associated with the unguarded conveyor. (b)National Food NW LLC, at 25351 National Avenue, Plankinton, SD 57368: On or about and at times prior to February 21, 2025, the employer did not ensure the reciprocating gear through the guard located at the Eggflow was properly guarded. This condition exposed employees to caught-in and amputation hazards associated with the unguarded machine linkage.
