29 CFR 1926.451(b)(1)(i): Each platform unit (e.g., scaffold plank, fabricated plank, fabricated deck, or fabricated platform) shall be installed so that the space between adjacent units and the space between the platform and the uprights is no more than 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide, except where the employer can demonstrate that a wider space is necessary (for example, to fit around uprights when side brackets are used to extend the width of the platform). On or about January 2, 2025, at location 605 N Third Avenue, Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin: The employer failed to ensure that the work platform had no gaps wider than one inch, exposing employees to tripping and falling hazards. Fincantieri Marine Group, LLC was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1926.451(b)(1)(i), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1759523, citation number 1, item number 2-b and was affirmed as a final order on October, 2, 2024, with respect to a workplace located at 605 N Third Avenue, Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin.
