Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were required to perform repetitive motions resulting in stressors likely to cause cumulative trauma disorders. Administrative and Engineering controls were not implemented: a) Shell Department - Employees working as Tissue Placers who repeatedly perfrom tasks which require various are and wrist postures were exposed to stressors resulting in cumulative trauma disorders. b) Shell Department - Employees working as Overwrap Machine Infeeders who repeatedly perform tasks which require various arm and wrist postures were exposed to stressors resulting in cumulative trauma disorders. c) Mexico Department - Employees working as Burrito Rollers who repeatedly perform tasks which require various arm and wrist postures were exposed to stressors resulting in cumulative trauma disorders. d) Mexico Department - Employees working as Entree Rollers who repeatedly perform tasks which require various are and wrist postures were exposed to stressors resulting in cumulative trauma disorders. e) Mexico Department - Employees working as Dough Boy Feeders who repeatedly perform tasks which require various are and wrist postures were exposed to stressors resulting in cumulative trauma disorders. f) Mexico Department - Employees working as Dake Infeeders who repeatedly perform tasks which require various arm and wristpostures were exposed to stressors resulting in cumulative trauma disorders. While ultimate responsibility for correcting the hazard rests with the employer, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard includes, but not limited to the following: 1) Implementation of control measures for reducing wrist deviations and forearm rotations. 2) Implementation of control measures for limiting the arm reach. 3) Implementaion of control measures for adjustable working heights. 4) Implementation of control measures to lower the frequency of the repetitive motions. 5) Implementation of control measures to rotate employees between high and low stressor jobs. ABATEMENT SCHEDULE Submit to the Area Director a written. detailed plan to abatement outlining a schedule for the implementation of engineering and/or administrative measures to control employee exposure to the hazardous conditions as referenced in this citation. This plan shall be submitted within the first ninety (90) days of the abatement period. Thereafter, ninety (90) day progress reports shall be submitted to the Area Director.
