Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.21(b)(2): The employer did not instruct each employee in the recognition and avoidance of unsafe conditions and the regulations applicable to his/her environment to control or eliminate any hazards or other exposure to illness or injury: a) On or about June 6, 2024, at the site located at 2500 Ameera Trail, St. Cloud, FL 34773, the employer did not train employees in the recognition and avoidance of heat related hazards. Employees were exposed to the hazard of high heat from the sun during the performance of their job duties, including the installation of utility lines and mixing and carrying buckets of cement. The calculated Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) ranged from 26?- 31? (79? to 88?) and a calculated heat index of 28?-40? (83 ? to 104?) while working outdoors for approximately 8-9 hours performing heavy manual labor and wearing short sleeve shirts and long pants. Such exposures are likely to lead to the development of serious heat-related illnesses such as, but not limited to, heat cramps, heat stress, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke.
