29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): Portable ladders were used for access to an upper landing surface and the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface to which the ladder was used to gain access: a. 1421-23 Putnam Ave., Plainfield, NJ - Roof The employer did not ensure that employees were protected from falls. Employees engaged in residential roofing activities worked at or near the edge at heights greater than 20 feet and used a Werner extension ladder for access to the second level of the roof where the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3-feet above the landing surface. Violation observed on or about March 30, 2024 A & A Roofing Construction, LLC was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29CFR 1926.1053(b)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection Number 1531346, citation number 1, item number 2 and was affirmed as a final order on December 6, 2021, with respect to a workplace located at 16 Tylers Way, Voorhees, NJ.
