Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.859(g): During demolition, continuing inspections by a competent person shall be made as the work progresses to detect hazards resulting from weakened or deteriorated floors, or walls, or loosened material. No employee shall be permitted to work where such hazards exist until they are corrected by shoring, bracing, or other effective means. a) On or about March 13, 2024, the employer did not ensure that continuous inspections were being completed during progression of the demolition process to identify hazards from the weakened building, resulting in the Caterpillar 336D Excavator falling through the first floor and into the basement, causing a partial rollover of the equipment.
