29 CFR 1910.28(b)(1)(i): Except as provided elsewhere in this section, the employer did not ensure that each employee on a walking-working surface with an unprotected side or edge that was 4 feet (1.2 m) or more above a lower level was protected from falling by one or more of the following methods: (A) Guardrail systems; (B) Safety net systems; or (C) Personal fall protection systems, such as personal fall arrest, travel restraint, or positioning systems: (a) Mezzanine for Fans/Blowers - Employees worked on the mezzanine to service and maintain fan/blower equipment associated with the pneumatic collection system. The mezzanine's existing guardrail system had a missing section on the westward facing side of the mezzanine toward the south end, exposing employees to the hazard of falling 13 feet 4 inches to the plant floor below, on or about March 12, 2024. No abatement certification or documentation required.
