29 CFR 1926.501(b)(7)(ii): Each employee at the edge of a well, pit, shaft, or similar excavation 6 feet (1.8 m) or more in depth was not protected from falling by guardrail systems, fences, barricades, or covers: a) On or about Dec 13, 2023, University of the Virgin Islands - Medical School, St Thomas, VI 00802. Employees were exposed to the edge of an excavation, approximately ten (10) feet in depth, that was not protected from falling by guardrail system, fences, barricades or covers, exposing employees to a fall hazard. NOTE: Certification of abatement is not required for this citation item, as abatement was documented by the compliance safety and health officer during the inspection.
