29 CFR 1910.1030(d)(2)(i): Engineering and work practice controls were not used to eliminate or minimize employee exposure to bloodborne pathogens: a) Hiossen Inc. - 401 Plymouth Rd., Plymouth Meeting, PA - On or about February 17, 2024, Dental Implant Sales Reps were assisting with clean-up of needles contaminated with human blood after providing guidance to dentists during live dental implant surgeries. The employer did not ensure that engineering controls such as sharps with engineered sharps injury protection or work practice controls were used to eliminate or minimize employee exposure from needle sticks. Abatement certification and documentation required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, the date and method of abatement, and state that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement. Abatement documentation shall include documents demonstrating that abatement is complete, such as evidence of the purchase or repair of equipment, photograph or video evidence of abatement or other written records.
