29 CFR 1926.651(c)(2): A stairway, ladder, ramp or other safe means of egress was not located in trench excavations that were 4 feet (1.22m) or more in depth so as to require no more than 25 feet (7.62m) of lateral travel for employees: The employer does not provide means of egress for each employee performing work in trenches by using a stairway, ladder, ramp, or other safe means of egress designed in accordance with paragraph (c) of 29 CFR 1926.651. This violation occurred on or about November 15, 2023; at 143 L.F. Sewer line excavation, where a means of egress for each employee was not provided for employees prepping and installing sewer lines in a trench greater than four feet in depth. Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the abatement date, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps that it is taking to ensure employees are provided means of egress in trenches greater than four feet in depth.
