29 CFR 1910.261(k)(18):The hazard of the nip points on all calender rolls was not eliminated or minimized by means of an effective barrier device, or by feeding the paper into the rolls by means of a rope carrier, air jets, or hand feeding devices: On or about June 9, 2023 the employer did not ensure that the hazard of the nip points of the calender rolls (couch roll area) on the fourdrinier papermaking machine were eliminated. Employees were able to access the nip points as no barrier guarding was present and the air jets were not in operation. Hand feeding devices (air wand) was not utilized at the time.
