Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.151(c): Where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use: (a) On or about June 15, 2023, the employer did not provide suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes in the forklift battery charging area in that the plumbed-in eyewash was blocked by a metal bailing machine and was not accessible for use. Corrosive buildup was located on the plastic casing of the Interstate Batteries 24-volt battery used in the Picker Raymond-5 and on the plastic casing of the battery RPB922340 used on the Crown forklift-1. This condition exposed employees to serious eye injuries and damage.
