Bayonne, New Jersey 07002. a) The employer did not perform initial monitoring to determine the airborne concentration of inorganic arsenic that employees performing abrasive sand blasting operations were exposed. On June 26, 2023 an employee performing abrasive sand blasting operations in a salt water storage tank was exposed to inorganic arsenic at concentrations of 35 micrograms per cubic meter of air, as an 8-Hour Time Weighted Average, exceeding the Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) of 10 micrograms per cubic meter of air by 3.5 times. Zero exposure was assumed for the unsampled period of 230 minutes. Violation occurred on or around June 26, 2023.
