Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a) On or about April 12, 2023, and at times prior, employees were assigned to inspect the trolley return chain and the tray below, and retrieve trolleys that had fallen to the tray, during its operation, and to hang trolleys on the moving chain. To see, reach in the tray, and hang trolleys, employees needed to stand adjacent to the trolley return chain system in a location where trolleys, and their hooks, could swing and strike or catch the workers. This condition exposed worker to struck-by and caught-in hazards.
