Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that caused or were likely to cause death or serious physical harm in that employees were exposed to combustible dust explosion, deflagration, or other fire hazards while working at or near dust collection system which were not adequately designed to prevent or minimize employee exposure in the event of a deflagraion or other uncontrolled fire event: a. Shotpeen Dust Collector - On or about February 2, 2023, employees were exposed to fire and explosion hazards from the accumulation of fugitive dust with a kst of 13.71 bar*meter/sec in the shotpeen dust collection area was not grounded and was installed inside the building. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and states employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
