29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance paragraph (b) or (c) of 29 CFR 1926.652: a) Southeast side of the intersection of John J. Williams Highway and Mulberry Knoll Road in Lewes, DE. 19958: On or about 08/05/2022, employees working in an unprotected excavation during sewer line installation. The competent person required employees to enter and work in a trench/excavation without a trench box, or adequate benching/sloping measures, to prevent employees from being exposed to cave in hazards. The trench/excavation measured 24 feet long, 23 feet wide, and 16 feet deep with loose soil all around from previous site work.
