29 CFR 1926.451(b)(1)(i): Each platform unit (e.g., scaffold plank, fabricated plank, fabricated deck, or fabricated platform) was not installed so that the space between adjacent units and the space between the platform and the uprights were no more than 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide, except where the employer can demonstrate that a wider space is necessary: (a) On January 7, 2022, the working platform/decking of a tubular steel framed scaffold was not fully planked and/or the remaining open space between the planks were no more then an inch to protect employees from a potential fall hazard. Employees tasked with installing precast chimney caps on a residential property located at 1842 S Ogden St. Denver, CO 80210, were exposed to fall hazards from a height of 28 feet from the top of the working surface to the ground below.
