Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. On or about December 9, 2021, and at times prior thereto, employees were exposed to machine guarding hazards: a) Employees were loading dough into a hopper machine with an unguarded rotating auger, exposing employees to the hazard of being caught-in the auger. b) Employees were removing cookie baking sheets from the conveyor belt of the cookie hopper machine without the conveyor belt being guarded over the wheel, exposing employees to the hazard of being caught-in an in-going nip point. c) Employees were working at and around the boilie roller without the cutting rollers being guarded, exposing employees to the hazard of being cut by the roller blades.
