29 CFR 1910.28(b)(11)(ii): The employer did not ensure that each flight of stairs having at least 3 treads and at least 4 risers is equipped with stair rail systems and handrails as described in 29 CFR 1910.28 Table D-2-Stairway Handrail Requirements: a) Kanta Products Inc, Block Machine Stairs: On or about November 29, 2021 and at times prior, employees were exposed to trip and fall hazards while accessing and egressing the flight of stairs consisting of 4 risers and 3 treads near the control panel of the block machine to access the concrete mold area. The employer failed to ensure stairs contained a complete stair rail system on each open side. b) Kanta Products Inc, Screener Infeed Belt Platform Stairs: On or about November 29, 2021 and at times prior, employees were exposed to trip and fall hazards while accessing and egressing the flight of stairs consisting of 5 risers and 4 treads to perform maintenance on the screener hammermill. The employer failed to ensure stairs contained a complete stair rail system on each open side. c) Kanta Products Inc, Southeast raised parts room: On or about November 29, 2021 and at times prior, employees were exposed to trip and fall hazards while accessing and egressing the flight of stairs consisting of 13 risers and 12 treads to gather parts from the parts room. The employer failed to ensure stairs contained a complete stair rail system on each open and closed side.
