29 CFR 1910.305(g)(2)(ii): Flexible cords may be used only in continuous lengths without splice or tap. Hard-service cord and junior hard-service cord No. 14 and larger may be repaired if spliced so that the splice retains the insulation, outer sheath properties, and usage characteristics of the cord being spliced. a) On or about November 23, 2021, the employer did not ensure that flexible extension cords were not used with splices or taps in that the Box Sticher Machine had been repaired and was being powered by an orange flexible extension cord spliced to the machine.
