29 CFR 1910.151(c): The employer failed to provide suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body for immediate emergency use in the work area where the eyes or body of any person may be exposed to injurious corrosive materials. On or about October 28, 2021, Marion Logistics Services at 3007 Harding Highway East in Marion, Ohio did not provide employees the use of suitable facilities such as an eyewash station or a safety shower in the immediate area for the operation of filling the lead-acid batteries that power the electric forklifts used in the workplace. The lead-acid batteries contain sulfuric acid that has a pH value of less than or equal to 2 and employees are exposed to the chemical during the refilling or addition of water to the battery.
