29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): 29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): Where portable ladders were used for access to upper landing surfaces, the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface to which the ladders were used to gain access. a- Lot-21 E Crescent & Roxbury Road, Mahwah NJ: An employee engaged in metal roofing activities on a 4 on 12 pitched porch roof was exposed to fall hazards of approximately 13 ft to the concrete below as a portable aluminum extension ladder used for access and egress whose side rails did not extend 3ft above the upper landing surface.
