Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a. On or about May 18, 2021, an employee was operating a pressurized cleaning system/ pressurized cleaning hose without (1) the use of the manually operated hose lock/ guard and (2) without the hydraulically operated hose keeper/ hose guide and (3) without an adequate number of hose guards/ tiger tails and (4) without the use of an adequate length of leader hose/ cut resistant hose and (5) without a rigid nozzle support/ guard, also known as a Guide Fin; therefore exposing the employee/ operator to struck-by hazards/ head, eye and face injuries. b. On or about May 26, 2021, an employee was operating a pressurized cleaning system/ pressurized cleaning hose without (1) the use of the manually operated hose lock/ guard and (2) without the hydraulically operated hose keeper/ hose guide and (3) without an adequate number of hose guards/ tiger tails and (4) without the use of an adequate length of leader hose/ cut resistant hose and (5) without a rigid nozzle support/ guard, also known as a Guide Fin; therefore exposing the employee/ operator to struck-by hazards/ head, eye and face injuries.
