1910.212(a)(1): Machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts and crushing hazards. (a) Jesgel 850 ton injection molding machine (# EW1858): On or about Sept 24, 2020, the employer did not insure guarding was properly installed and implemented on the machine feed hopper exposing employee(s) working on or around the energized, exposed and rotating feed screw and trough housing located directly below the hopper. (a) Jesgel 850 ton injection molding machine (#EW1858): On or about Sept 24, 2020,the employer did not insure machine cell was deenergized and locked out when employee removed hopper shroud to perform a material purge / color change, as part of servicing of production process equipment.
