29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with 29 CFR 1926.652 (b) or (c). (a) 5081 Cherokee Street, Acworth, GA, Excavation located in southwest corner: On or about 11/25/2019, and at times prior, the employer exposed employees to engulfment/cave-in hazards while working in an excavation that measured 55-ft. long by 25-ft. wide by 9-ft. deep, in that a cave-in protection system was not provided inside the excavation as employees were engaged in erecting a manhole and pumping existing water from the sewer to install new lines. Gorman Construction, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1926.651(c)(2), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1363363, citation number 1, item number 2 and was affirmed as a final order on 03/19/2019, with respect to a workplace located at 2416-2498 Barrett Creek Parkway, Marietta, GA 30066.
