29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1)(i): The employer did not select and have each affected employee use, the types of personal protective equipment that would protect the affected employee(s) from the hazards identified in the hazard assessment: Entire Facility. The employer did not select and provide proper personal protective equipment to protect employees from chemical burns from acid splashes when adding water to powered industrial truck batteries. Employees did not have adequate body protection, such as a chemical-resistant splash apron, chemical-resistant gloves that covered the hand and forearm and chemical-resistant eye/face protection, such as goggles and or safety glasses worn with a face shield. Employees wore nitrile gloves that covered only the hand area and regular safety glasses with no face shield. Chemical-resistant body covering was not provided or worn. Abatement certification is required for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c).
