Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.106(f)(6): Sources of ignition. Category 1 or 2 flammable liquids, or Category 3 flammable liquids with a flashpoint below 100 °F (37.8 °C), shall not be handled, drawn, or dispensed where flammable vapors may reach a source of ignition. Smoking shall be prohibited except in designated localities. "No Smoking" signs shall be conspicuously posted where hazard from flammable liquid vapors is normally present. On or about March 4, 2019, and at times prior thereto, at the tank battery train #7, employees performed maintenance and/or repairs to a level controller/float on the heater treater oil boot and peanut valve and the employer did not prohibit spark producing equipment and tools such as but not limited to: a) a Skyjack, Model SJ45T, Serial No. 98001300; and b) a Crescent wrench and other tools which were not approved for the hazardous locations.
