29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc. (a) On or about February 26, 2019 in the Knitting Department, the Karl Mayer Knitter #11 (Type: RS 4-N 2M/F, Machine Nu. 65775) had an unguarded in-running nip point on the drive rollers exposing employees to caught in hazards. (b) On or about February 26, 2019 in the Knitting Department, the Karl Mayer Knitter #11 (Type: RS 4-N 2M/F, Machine Nu. 65775) had an unguarded in-running nip point on the doff rollers exposing employees to caught in hazards. (c) On or about March 5, 2019 in the Knitting Department, the Karl Mayer Knitter #10 (Type: RS 4N 2 M-F, Machine Nu. 77667) had an unguarded in-running nip point on the drive rollers exposing employees to caught in hazards. (d) On or about March 5, 2019, in the Knitting Department, the Karl Mayer Knitter #3 (Type: RS-4-N-2M-F, Machine Nu. 68382) had an unguarded in-running nip point on the ABZ roller exposing employees to caught in hazards. (e) During February, 2019 in the Knitting Department, the Karl Mayer Knitter #1 (Type: RDS 11-FSM, Machine Nr. 77496) had an unguarded in-running nip point on the drive rollers exposing employees to caught in hazards. (f) During February, 2019 in the Knitting Department, the Karl Mayer Knitter #1 (Type: RDS 11-FSM, Machine Nr. 77496) had an unguarded in-running nip point on the ABZ rollers exposing employees to caught in hazards. (g) During February, 2019 in the Knitting Department, the Karl Mayer Knitter #1 (Type: RDS 11-FSM, Machine Nr. 77496) had an unguarded in-running nip point on the tension rollers at the platform exposing employees to caught in hazards. (h) On or about March 5, 2019 in the Knitting Department, the Karl Mayer Knitter #4 (Type: RDS 11, FSM, Machine Nu. 77495) had an unguarded in-running nip point on the drive rollers exposing employees to caught in hazards. (i) On or about March 5, 2019 in the Knitting Department, the Karl Mayer Knitter #4 (Type: RDS 11, FSM, Machine Nu. 77495) had an unguarded in-running nip point on the tension rollers at the platform exposing employees to caught in hazards. (j) On or about March 5, 2019 in the Knitting Department, the Karl Mayer Knitter #2 (Type: HDR 11-EHW-ST, Masch-Nr. 67514) had unguarded cams exposing employees to struck-by hazards. (k) On or about February 15, 2019 in the Knitting Department, the Karl Mayer Knitter #5 (Type: RDS 11E NNC, Masch Nr. 75935) had an unguarded in-running nip point on the tension rollers at the platform exposing employees to caught in hazards. (l) On or about February 27, 2019 in the Knitting Department, the Karl Mayer Knitter #8 (Type: RS 4-N 2 M-F, Masch Nr. 74855) had unguarded in-running nip point on the drive rollers exposing employees to caught in hazards. (m) On or about February 27, 2019 in the Knitting Department, the Karl Mayer Knitter #8 (Type: RS 4-N 2 M-F, Masch Nr. 74855) had unguarded in-running nip point on the doff rollers exposing employees to caught in hazards. (n) On or about March 5, 2019 in the Knitting Department, the Karl Mayer Knitter #7 (Type: RS5 N 2 M-F, Masch Nr. 66719) had an unguarded in-running nip point on the drive rollers exposing employees to caught in hazards.
