29 CFR 1910.1030(d)(4)(iii)(A)(3)(i): Containers of contaminated sharps were moved from the area of use, and the containers were not closed immediately prior to removal or replacement to prevent spillage or protrusion of contents during handling, storage, transport or shipping. a) Utility Closet: A container containing contaminated sharps was moved from the area of use to a utility closet did not have a closable lid to prevent the protrusion of sharps, such as but not limited to straight needles, butterfly needles and used razor blades, on or about 10/23/18. NOTE: THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.
