Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.651(h)(1): Employees were working in excavations in which there was accumulated water, or excavations in which water was accumulating, and adequate precautions had not been taken to protect employees against the hazards posed by water accumulation. The employer is failing to ensure employees are protected from cave in hazards while working in an excavation which has water accumulating on the floor of the excavation. This was most recently documented at 150th St, and Capehart Rd., Springfield, Nebraska on or about October 18, 2018 when the employer had employees working in a 20 foot deep excavation with water accumulating in the bottom of the excavation. Employees are exposed to the potential cave in of the walls in the excavation due to the accumulated water in the bottom of the excavation.
