Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.178(q)(7): Industrial trucks were not examined before being placed in service. When defects were found that affected the safety of the vehicle trucks were not removed from service: a) Facility Wide- On March 23, 2018, the employer failed to ensure that all powered industrial vehicles, such as the Toyota Forklifts, were examined before being placed into service. b) Facility Wide- On March 23, 2018, the employer failed to remove powered industrial vehicles from service that showed conditions that adversely affected the safety of the vehicles. Examinations showed that the Toyota Forklift #92764 that had issues with the steering axle and center bushings, and Toyota Forklift #65039 that had braking problems. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.
