29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices,electronic safety devices, etc. a) On March 2, 2018 employees who perform greasing of equipment in Department #67 Pre-treat and Prime Stage #10 T-Cart were exposed to the movement of the T-Cart in that, the doors that employees use to enter the Pre-treat and Prime stages area allows the employees to enter the doors into the movement of the T-cart, due to the doors not having a guarding method such as but not limited to either barrier guards to prevent entry or electronic safety devices that would stop the motion of the T-Cart when the doors are open.
