Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: CHEMICAL
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the condition(s) listed below: Cooper Natural Resources, FM 1066, Loop, TX - Chiller Room On or about 17 September 97, employees do not have a clear line of sight from the bleed off valve to the oil pots in the 'D' and 'E' units when operating the ammonia bleed off valves. Employees are required to 'bleed' off the oil from the ammonia line on a regular basis. Employees need to be able to see the drain line so that the valve can be closed before any ammonia is released. This condition exposes employees to the injuries and hazards associated with asphyxiation. Feasible and acceptable abatement methods would include, but are not limited to the following: Installation of a window.
