Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:

OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to impalement hazards from uncovered steel posts. On or about May 12, 2017, at 3585 Braselton Hwy, Dacula, Georgia: Two employees performing roofing work were exposed to impalement hazards when one of the employees worked from on top of a roof without using fall protection above another employee working from a ladder scaffold that was approximately 2.5-feet above and approximately 4-feet behind uncovered steel fence posts. Among other possible methods to abate this violation, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to cover the steel fence posts.
