29 CFR 1910.179(b)(8): Only designated personnel shall be permitted to operate a crane covered by this section: 101 North Main Street, Newark, Illinois, west building shop, 5 Ton overhead bridge crane: on or about May 4, 2017, the employer failed to designate employees who were adequately trained and capable of safely operating the crane for regular load (e.g. tail gates) handling tasks. Employees were exposed to swinging load struck-by hazards likely to result in serious injury. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
