29 CFR 1910.147(c)(7)(i): The employer shall provide training to ensure that the purpose and function of the energy control program are understood by employees and that the knowledge and skills required for the safe application, usage, and removal of the energy controls are acquired by employees. On or about November 5, 2016, employees on the Comfort Bath Cleansing System Line 1 were exposed to amputations when performing setup activities, such as hand threading rolled sheet foam into the in-feed rollers of the slitter. The employer did not provide adequate training to employees to ensure that the purpose and function of the energy control program are understood by employees and that the knowledge and skills required for the safe application, usage, and removal of the energy controls are acquired by employees. Abatement certification is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(c).
