Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the recognized hazard of being struck by falling portions of the hoisted load or load block of the Shepherd Niles 5 ton underhung crane located in bay #1, westside of the facility, south crane on this runway. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to maintain written, dated, and signed inspection reports and records on critical underhung crane items and safety devices in accordance with Paragraph 11-2.1.5 of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) B30.11-1973, Monorail System and Underhung Cranes.
