Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.1001(k)(2): All spills and sudden releases of material containing asbestos were not cleaned up as soon as possible: (a) On or about June 3, 2016 in the rear vestibule and workroom floor, the custodian/ housekeeping employee were exposed to damaged and broken mastic and tile on the floor, which contained 15% chrysotile asbestos. The broken tiles and damaged mastic had been in this condition for more than two months, but management had not addressed the hazard, exposing employees to inhalation hazards. The U.S. Postal Service was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.1001(k)(2), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 965760, citation number 1, item number 2 and was affirmed as a final order on January 14, 2015 with respect to a workplace located at 3450 State Road 26 East, Lafayette, IN 47901.
