29 CFR 1910.138(a): The employer did not select and require employee(s) to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands were exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasion; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes: a) MTD Consumer Group, Inc. - Willard, Ohio: On or about May 5, 2016, the employer did not ensure that employees who entered the parts washer for paint system lines 2, 3, and 4, wore chemical resistant gloves when retrieving parts that fell off of the hang line carrier near Stage 2 in the washer. Employees were exposed to a 3% potassium hydroxide cleaner with a pH between 10 and 13 and that was also heated to 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
