Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.178(q)(7): Industrial trucks shall be examined before being placed in service, and shall not be placed in service if the examination shows any condition adversely affecting the safety of the vehicle. Such examination shall be made at least daily. Where industrial trucks are used on a round-the-clock basis, they shall be examined after each shift. Defects when found shall be immediately reported and corrected. a) On April 21, 2016 the Linde #40 powered industrial lift truck was not removed from service when defects were found in that the Hydraulic cylinders were leaking. b) Forklift were not removed from service when defects were found in that the propane tanks were not secured to prevent from movement in that a securing device was not on the lift. c) The Linde #40 lift was not removed from service when defects were found in that the propane tanks were missing the factory securing straps but was outfitted with a bungee cords.
