Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.147(c)(7)(i): The employer did not provide training to ensure that the purpose and function of the energy control program are understood by employees and that the knowledge and skills required for the safe application, usage, and removal of the energy controls are acquired by employees: The employer is failing to protect employees from the hazards of unexpected machine activation or energization during maintenance operations. This was most recently documented on February 15th, 2016, at the Stahl Specialty Company facility located at 1301 Stahl Drive in Warrensburg, Missouri, in the Sand Core Department where authorized employees were performing maintenance on a Laempe LFB50_H Sand Core machine without having been adequately trained in the recognition of applicable hazardous energy sources, the type and magnitude of the energy available in the workplace, and the methods and means necessary for energy isolation.
