Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to slip and fall hazards while carrying heavy objects using portable stepladders: a. On or about February 1, 2016, in the evisceration area, the employer did not ensure that portable ladders were used properly, in that employees carrying heavy objects with one hand could not maintain a firm hold on the ladder, exposing them to fall hazards. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.
